hide and sheep: September 2011

Wednesday

material and test runs

Dear World

So yes, we've been hiding all coolness updates from you because we've been busy making plans into actions and maybes into yesses!

On Saturday I bought the material for the boys' shirts- it was lots of fun but horrific to find out how much the price of cotton has gone up in South Africa!
It's sad that the material to make a normal shirt in South Africa is more expensive than buying a shirt from Mr Price. Sweatshops...in all their necessity are killing South African production.

But anyway, that's a serious story for a much more serious place.
This is about excitement!

So I've got the material (picture to prove it) and I've just spoken to the tailor, she says that a test run will be ready next week!

Hold your horses until then (and while holding, like us on Facebook)!

Saturday

"I'm pretty. Oh so pretty"

Hellllllo ladies!

Who's sick of bad cuts? I am. I'm so frigging sick of them.

Luckily, being the brains behind (note the unintended alliteration please) Hide and Sheep makes bad cuts a thing of the past! No more vest-beater's that cut your arm at the most unflattering place and provide ample opportunity for sweat marks.
No way!
So I'm making us special crop tops that are amazing. They have baby sleeves (short sleeved, but that just sounds politically incorrect, as everything does these days..) and a scoop neck and swagger 101.

They're great.

There're going to be five cream-coloured ones and five grey ones. Viscose cotton blend and very very nice material so far.

My seamstress is busy making the test run so as soon as she's done I'll be bragging on here. And everywhere.
I'm so excited! Yew!

Like this, but more loose and with shorter sleeves.

Go and like it on Facebook!

Man-style

Through a trial and error based system I have methodically decided what men want...from t shirts.
What do men want? you may ask.
And I, brotherless, in a res of over 400 girls, have the answer.

My system? Casual and random clickings on photos taken at The Assembly. Because of a handful of random men I can confidently say that men want round necks. The V-neck is not happening just yet with Hide and Sheep. Or maybe it's just because I like round necks.

But that's not the point. What is the point is that you need to let me know your fave cuts...

(Thank you gorgeous Asos models for your contribution.)

Saturday

I am the worst blogger ever

Dear Blog

I'm so sorry I have neglected you so badly. I'm going to make up excuses about "not enough time" and then quote something from the two seasons of Skins that I've just watched. I'm going to say how much work I had, and then explain all the adventures I've been going on. I'm going to say how I was scared it would chow my internet cap, and then give a link to some of the YouTube clips I've been watching.

Life's been too much fun to blog.

But here it is. Short and sweet. And apologetic.

The designs go on! The drawing has not stopped. The thinking about shirts has not stopped and my connections have certainly not been tethered.

I've been productive: I have chosen this design for the first print of shirts:
Thoughts???
I've also chosen the style.
And most of my "models".

Here's what else I've been up to!
